Texas DA's have a public user forum on their website they use to communicate with one another. On 5-18, just before last week's Senate hearing on
stronger probation, Williamson County District Attorney John Bradley issued his call to arms against the bill:
This hearing will be your final opportunity to protest
HB 2193 and SB 1266 in a public forum. If this bill leaves the committee, next stop is the senate floor. From there, assuming
no changes, it goes to the governor. Any action by the senate and governor could be influenced by the number and strength
of criticisms voiced during the committee hearing.
I hope he's right that the decision of the senate and the governor "could be influenced
by the number and strength of criticisms voiced." As mentioned earlier, Bradley was the only District Attorney to speak in opposition to the bill. (See the witness list.)
